A cuppa with... Helen Segal
Get to know our guests and us in our alternative Q&A! We’re catching up with friends, past and present to ask them about the important stuff in life. Y’know… cake, tea and biscuits.
Here’s our guest Helen Segal talking about how she starts her day with mediation and all about Smash Books. You can listen to Helen on our podcast with Michael and Berenice here.
Hello Helen! Can you tell us more about you and how you came to be a cosmic smashing creative?
I live in the south of London on the borders of Surrey. I was a Teacher of Art and Design for 19 years and over the last 4 years I have retrained as an Arts Counsellor and 2 years ago as a Cosmic Smash Booking Coach. I am the founder of Empowered Childlessness which was born in June 2019. In September 2019 I hosted the Virtual Summit 'Empowered Childlessness: Embrace your Journey, release what's holding you back and reconnect to your joy, vitality and freedom’. I work with women who want to do just that and learn and connect to the power of their creativity. My aims are to teach and facilitate workshops around the world and get the message that creativity is a healing power that everyone can use.
Tell us about your morning!
My mornings usually start with meditation and a practice called Sadhana. I then have breakfast with my partner. Next, I create time to spend with my Smash Book, connecting to my creative muse and processing anything that I am working through emotionally. It is then a deep dive into my business. Answering emails, writing posts and working with clients. Working as an entrepreneur there is lots to do, but what I love is the freedom it gives to try new things and be creative. I have a beautiful view of tree and rooftops from my work station at home and I love frequently looking up and taking in the view, being mindful of the weather and birds flying past.
Sounds good, can we get you a brew?
Yes please good old PG Tips.
Would you like a biscuit?
Yum digestive, please.
Do you stop for lunch?
Yes, absolutely! There is nothing like a cheese toasted sandwich or a big bowl of homemade soup. In the summer I eat outside behind the flats in front of my flower beds. Last year I planted a selection of plants and I just love seeing them change and grow.
Afternoon tea? If you had to pick a cake, what can we bake for you?
Yep - banana or a piece of carrot cake. Not regularly mind you - but as it’s with you - yum!
