Changes and growth

Last summer saw a change in our male childless community as we changed the name of The Clan Of Brothers to The Childless Men's Community (CMC). A long story short, we got feedback from some of our American community that what I thought was a great name leaning into my ancestral Scottish heritage turns out to be perceived in a totally different way in the US.

A few of our American brothers were uncomfortable with 'clan' and the perception. The demographics of the group identifed a low representation of men of colour from the US. The Childless Men's Community don't want any person who identifies as a man to miss out on the support that our group gives. We embarked on a collaborative exercise on the new approach. A small group of us in Australia have come together under the name of Childlessness Australia, intending to be the national voice for the childless in Oz. We are working on Workplace Inclusion resources for several organisations. We are building our website, putting some energy into our logo and branding, and want to get the counting of the childless in our next census. I'd like to shout out to Clinton Archer, who showed great courage in participating in an ABC article on male infertility. I had the pleasure of having coffee with Clinton on a recent trip to the Gold Coast; he is, as we say here in Oz, 'a top bloke'. Vickie and I also had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife on this trip.
